Jeffrey Stec

I'm a recovering lawyer who spent time at a big law firm and also on my own representing the most marginalized people in Cincinnati--mothers and children being torn apart by the children's protective services.  During that time I practiced open space technology to stay sane.  Then I started a planned giving program at United Way to pay the bills as I volunteered like crazy doing community facilitation around "new urbanism" using Peter's model.  I've been on many non-profit boards and have used various models to help non-profits with their strategic planning.  Now I'm a full-time community building facilitator working with governments, non-profits and issue/project groups to expand constituencies committed to co-creating a future together.

Barbara Collier

Born and raised in the northern Cincinnati suburb known as Greenhills, Barbara has spent the past 25 years living and teaching in the public school system of Montgomery County, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, DC.  Having recently returned to this native land,  wanting to be an integral part of the transformation of race relations here, she took keyboard in hand and typed in a google search using the words "Cincinnati civic involvement".  This landed her into a small room in Over the Rhine where monthly, she finds solice, resolve, faith, and hope from being a part of a group of dedicated citizens who want to make a difference in the betterment of our community- Peter Block's - A Small Group.  "Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  - Margaret Mead

ASG Dayton, Ohio

ASG Dayton is a collection of concerned citizens who have experienced A Small Group in various exposures in Cincinnati, from its use in Cincinnati’s diverse communities and social gatherings to Training Intensives conducted by Peter Block. We are determined to conduct ASG sessions in the Dayton area and extend the concept from its core originators in Cincinnati by having conversations that break open a score of possibilities and compel us toward a future not based on human deficits.  We meet on Saturday afternoons at the Dayton Peace Museum, and we use ASG as the means to connect with each other, and to encourage and support each other in our efforts to apply ASG and promote its use.

My attraction to A Small Group comes from two areas; First and foremost it comes from who I truly am and what’s in my heart. Secondly, my attraction comes from a huge never ending desire to learn and because I care. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, almost all my family are here and I probably have seen everybody who’s lived here, over my life-time, at least once.
